Вижте защо Москва не може да бъде нападната с ракети
The Russian Ministry of Defence opened the doors to its massive Don-2N radar station in the Moscow Region, Tuesday. The base protects the Russian capital from ballistic missile attacks.
Head of Combat Programs, Ilgar Tagiev, said that the Don-2N is a unique and "powerful, high-potential radio-location unit with centimetre-range waves." According to Tagiev, "it can complete all anti-missile defence tasks, for example, locking on targets and aiming counter-missiles."
The Don-2N radar system comprises individual ultra-high frequency radars placed at each of its corners for an early warning of a possible attack on Moscow. The system, which is constantly in a state of full alert, is operated 24 hours a day. It can engage ICBMs at a range of 3,700 km (2,299 miles) and is run by an Elbrus-2 supercomputer.
The radar station belongs to the A-135 anti-ballistic missile complex deployed around Moscow, which works with 53T6 counter-rockets.
